About the Postgraduate Academy

The College of Health Sciences Postgraduate Academy is a virtual centre for doctoral development and support for all Postgraduate candidates from the four schools within the College.

A doctoral candidate should take responsibility for their own academic development. The Postgraduate Academy provides a suite of resources, useful at different stages of your doctoral development, that will help you develop into the doctorate that will be able to fulfil the expectations that society has of graduates of this level.

The aim of the Academy is to provide an environment to enhance your experience as a postgraduate candidate, with access to resources for research skills and postgraduate attributes within a supportive community of peers as well as mentors. A collaborative ethos where supervisors, mentors and students maintain open channels of communication ensures a nurturing, relevant and responsive resource.

Along with enrichment, the Postgraduate Academy will provide clear guidance on the standards and expectations of the doctoral endeavour in order to assist in the development of our country.

The Postgraduate Academy will run weekly information sessions which will be available for later use for a limited period to ensure access to all. More focussed workshops for areas such as statistics and academic writing development will be run regularly and notifications will be provided at least a month ahead of time.

The Postgraduate Academy is here to support you to becoming a thought leader.
